Grassroot Soccer (GRS) is a rapidly growing adolescent health organization that leverages the power of soccer to educate, inspire, and mobilize at-risk youth in developing countries to overcome their greatest health challenges, live healthier, more productive lives, and be agents for change in their communities. Since 2002, GRS has reached over 2 million young people in 50 countries with life-saving HIV prevention and sexual and reproductive health information and services. Grassroot Soccer is looking to significantly scale its impact via partnerships over the next five years, and reach over 1M kids annually.

Position Summary
The Accountant will be responsible for providing a wide range of accounting support functions to Grassroot Soccer’s New Hampshire Headquarters office. The focus of this role is to perform accounting functions for the GRS US and UK operations and to assist the members of the Finance Department in Hanover, NH. The successful candidate will have the ability to work in a team-oriented office and multi-task in a fast-paced office environment. The Accountant reports to the Assistant Global Controller.

Responsibilities

  • Cash Receipts/Cash Management: Manage the accounting department’s cash receipts process. Entry of all cash receipts into the accounting system. Daily monitoring of US and UK bank accounts for balances and transactions.
  • US Expense Reimbursement and Credit Card Report System Management: Track and process employee reports through our online expense reporting system (Concur Solutions). Ensure timely payment of credit card bill and distribution of bill to relevant staff. Preparation and recording of journal entries.
  • Payroll Processing for foreign countries: Processing and entry of foreign pay registers into the accounting system each month.
  • Timesheet Process: Assist with checking submission status, hours and allocations of timesheets.

Specifications & Competencies

  • Education: Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Accounting.
  • Experience: Proficient in Microsoft Excel & Word. Knowledge of accounting principles and practices. Keen interest in the NGO sector and Accounting.
  • Communication Style: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Work Style: Confident enough to hit the ground running and take initiative on new projects. Attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to analyze and solve problems. Excellent planning and organization skills.
