Intern Contact Form

2011-2012 INTERNSHIP APPLICATION

Dear Potential GRS Intern:

Thank you for your interest in joining the Grassroot Soccer Team to participate as a volunteer in our fight against the spread of HIV/AIDS in Africa.  Applications will be accepted and acted upon on a rolling basis.  To apply for a GRS internship, please submit the following:

  1. A completed Internship Application—Information Form (download Intern Application PDF)
  2. Your responses to the Internship Application—Essay Questions (download Essay Questions for Application PDF)
  3. Your current resume.
  4. Original copies of transcripts for all college work completed and in process.  If you are a graduating senior and you are offered and you accept an internship, we will require submission of a final college transcript documenting that you have completed your degree.
  5. Two letters of recommendation from people who know you well and who will specifically address your suitability to serve as a Grassroot Soccer intern.  Please provide the names and contact information for the people who will submit these recommendations (download Recommendations Identifications PDF.)
  6. Note for later submission: The results of an FBI background check must be submitted by all candidates who accept an internship offered by Grassroot Soccer. Confirmation that you have applied to the FBI for that check must be submitted to Grassroot Soccer within two (2) weeks of your acceptance of an internship.

Upon receipt and processing of your completed application (#s 1-5 above), we will contact you to arrange for two personal interviews.  We would prefer to complete such interviews face-to-face but will, because of geographic distance and other reasonable causes, conduct such interviews by phone or SKYPE.  Depending on your location, we may ask you to meet with one of our former interns as part of that interview process.

All candidates who complete the application process will be notified of our decision on their application; successful candidates will be asked to confirm their acceptance of an internship appointment within two weeks of the offer being made.  Successful candidates who accept an internship will be required to attend a pre-departure orientation and training session in Hanover, NH the first week in August, 2012. Departure to assignments in Africa will take place from Boston’s Logan Airport immediately following completion of that orientation. Details will be confirmed in early June.

The completed Application Information Form, your response to the essay questions, your resume and the Recommendation Information Form may all be submitted electronically to david@grassrootsoccer.org or, may be submitted by mail.  You must submit original copies of your transcript(s) and letters of recommendation. Please submit all application materials and direct all questions to David Harrison, Grassroot Soccer, Inc., P.O. Box 712, Norwich, VT 05055. You may reach David by phone at 802-649-2900.
