GRS recognizes the need for effective HIV prevention among girls and young women, and also the fact that overwhelming research promotes the value of girls’ participation sport. Approximately half of our program participants are girls, and we have developed a girl-centered initiative, Skillz Street, that creates a safe space for adolescent girls to play soccer, take action in their community, and have vital conversations about HIV and AIDS. In addition, our Generation Skillz program aimed at youth 15-19 includes programming aimed at challenging underlying social norms, particularly around gender. Learn more about these approaches here.
